The Learning Village School in Sterling Virginia offers:
A curriculum-based program for students age 2+ through Junior Kindergarten. Our emphasis is on educating the whole child including social and emotional skills, gross and fine motor skills and exposure to the arts and music, in addition to emerging literacy and mathematical reasoning skills.
Extended Day Program
Care through the afternoon and into the evening for students who attend our Preschool in the morning and also elementary school-aged students from local public schools. We provide nurturing care which will stimulate a child’s interest through indoor and outdoor play and planned enrichment activities.
Summer Camp Program
Weekly themed summer camp sessions for children age 2+ through rising 3rd graders. The camp provides creative daily activities that extend the values of the school year with a fun and relaxing flair. Our younger campers enjoy our courtyard Bitsy Beach and on-site programs; while our older campers go off- site swimming and take field trips.
What Sets Us Apart
A third of our staff have over 10 years of service in our family-owned business. This extraordinary retention rate translates into knowledgeable, experienced and mature staff working with your children. The current family feel enjoyed by our teachers continues under the direction of Jacque Majestic who inherited the Village Green at Lowes Island business from her aunt, Lynne Simmons.
Our three-acre campus provides excellent opportunities for outdoor learning and play. We offer a state of the art playground, a sports court providing tennis, badminton, volleyball and basketball capabilities, an open field for soccer, kickball, baseball and football, and a concrete area for tricycles and scooters.
Our preschool utilizes the Core Knowledge curriculum, enhanced by our teachers’ knowledge and experience, to provide children a solid academic foundation on which new knowledge is layered. We assess each student’s individual needs, and meet those needs with personalized instruction.
We focus on educating the HEART as well as the MIND with our school-wide Character Trait each month. Teachers utilize storybooks, games and lessons to reinforce the importance of good character when interacting with other students, teachers, parents and the community as a whole.
Science and Fine Arts
The curriculum is further enhanced by specialists’ lessons in science, art and music. The hands-on science lessons, introduction to famous artists and exposure to different musical genres all contribute to the well-rounded education provided by our school.
